Island School Home

At Island School, education encompasses more than classroom instruction. Children and teens discover talents, develop skills, and participate in new experiences. A full range of human potential is touched - aesthetic and athletic in addition to academic.
All students are encouraged to develop their artistic sides with music, dance, drama, and the visual arts. Art Day, May Day, school plays, talent shows, chorus, and dances allow students to try something new and to find hidden talents.

Students exercise their critical thinking skills participating in Math Club, Journalism, Mock Trial, Student Government, Chess Club, Yearbook, National Honor Society, and Literary Magazine.

They hone their athletic skills by participating in a variety of Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation (KIF) sports such as: air riflery, cross country, baketball, swimming, tennis, golf, track, and canoe paddling. After-school clubs and intermurals are also offered: volleyball (club), soccer(club), softball (club), basketball (club), dive club, are some of the activities offered.

Community service is an integral part of Island School and students participate in various charitable events and organizations, such as Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart, Walk-a-thon, Jog-a-thon, and Interact Club, as well as a campus-wide recycling program, canned food drives, beach clean-up days, and Scouting.

In addition to their other benefits, all of these extra curricular activities help our students develop socially, nurturing a sense of community, integrity and self-confidence.
