Island School is a private, independent school with a public purpose – to service well its students and families and the general public to whatever extent possible. Since 1977 Island School has been a part of Kaua'i's island community, providing youth with high-quality, progressive educational programs that combine academic excellence with character building and experiences in the arts. Every Island School donor becomes part of a lively, innovative community network invested in Kaua'i's future. Annual Giving Annual Giving provides direct, unrestricted support to Island School's operating budget. Tuition revenue covers just 80% of our operating costs—we rely on donations from individuals, corporations and foundations for the rest. Gifts to Island School's Annual Fund have allowed us to purchase new elementary science books, renovate bathrooms, make additions to our teaching staff and update computer technology. The needs of a private school are many and diverse! To make an immediate impact, participate in Annual Giving. Tuition Aid Last year, 44% of students received financial assistance through Island School's tuition aid program. Tuition aid enriches and diversifies our student body, strengthens the learning environment and connects the institution with the greater community. To give the gift of an Island School education, support Tuition Aid. Gifts to the Endowment Endowment gifts support Island School's long-term financial stability by providing a continuous source of funding for school programs and operational needs. Endowment gifts are held in perpetuity, and may be restricted to support specific activities according to the donor's wishes. To ensure Island School's success now and in the future, give to the Endowment. Kokua In-kind donations and gifts of time and talent enrich the Island School experience. We are indebted to the many hands and hearts that help to make Island School the extraordinary place that it is.
