Mountain Biking Kauai
Recomended and Unrecomended Trails
Trails ratings
The Kauai Power line trail is probaly one of the best most hardest mountain biking trail on kauai. it is about 26 miles longe with huge pot holes filled with water that when you ride through on your bike can be up to your waist. their is also step narow parts right by drop offs. this is deffinantly a trail for the experianced rider and if you like mountain biking as much as I do you should love this chalenge.

Biking in kokee has many options for experianced bikers. you can either bike up the canyon road to kokee and bike back down or drive up to kokee and do one of the many trails from their. I would do not suggest biking up the canyon because your on a step road with no side lane with cars speeding by and with extremly hot temperatures at the bottom of the cantyon. Although i would suggest one of the many trails at the top of the canyon (kokee).but know how much strength you have for climing because on these trails you bike down first and then have to clime back up. this is also a great place to bike because it is nice and cool at the top of the canyon with amazing views if it isn't cloudy.

Waimea and the lower part of Waima Canyon are both great places to bike if you want an expert course. the waimea area has alot of jumps drops and lava rocks protruding out of the ground. It can get extremly hot in waimea though and while exerting yourself to much can be devestating if you dont bring water. This is one reason why i dont recomend the waimea area. lots of local mountain and dirt bikers ride in waimea and they dont always like tourist which is another reason why i do not recomend this place. If you do go bring lots of water and be carful and you should have a great time.
the Koloa Sugar Mill area is a maze of caneroads which is great for the beginner biker with some small challenges here and there. also Black Mountain right by it is great for the intermidiate biker that loves climing. personally i do not recomend either of thies places but i am not saying that you shouldnt try them out if your curious. the koloa sugar mill area has many gates that you have to put your bike over to keep on riding and has many cane road trucks that drive by that stirr up all the dust or splash you with mud(even though thier are gates it is legall to bike and run on the cane roads). black mountain is very fun to go over but the road is on privot property. so you can get a fine if your caught on this road. you can also go under this mountain through a cane road tunnel which is about a mile long and is legall to go under(it is a little spooky if you go through it alone).this area overall has tones of space for biking so if you do go it is exiting( remember to wear sunblock so you dont get burnt).
