Miss Penny entered student artwork in the 2019 Hawai‘i State Regional Scholastic Art Contest. This year Island School did not have any work selected for the regional exhibit in Honolulu, but did, however, have two students whose artwork received honorable mentions. Ninth grader Zeke Gamby was selected for his linoleum block print, and eighth grader Skylar Stewart for her collage self portrait. The Scholastic judges viewed over 2000 works of art this year, submitted statewide in grades 8 through 12. They can only select 200 for the exhibit. So, this recognition is significant and Zeke and Skylar can be very proud!
