Celebrating Spanish Traditions

Spanish students in Señora Summerhays’ class learned about the unique Christmas tradition of El Tío Nadal in Cataluña, Spain where children feed the Christmas log and it leaves them gifts and candy after they hit it while singing the traditional song. Tiago Morgado volunteered to hit the Tio Nadal in Spanish 2. Students also learned about the New Year tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight. Niki Upson in Spanish 3 volunteered to eat 12 grapes with the 12 chimes of the clock as we watched a video of New Year’s Eve in Madrid. Feliz Año Nuevo!
