High school students invited to serve on Boards and Commissions
The County of Kaua‘i Office of Boards and Commissions is inviting high school students to help shape the future of the island by volunteering to serve on County Boards and Commissions.
Boards and Commissions are composed of community leaders and residents committed to making a difference. They serve as a bridge between the public and County government, allowing members to share ideas and participate in decisions that impact Kaua‘i. Each board or commission has unique responsibilities—for example, the Police Commission is responsible for hiring the Police Chief.
In 2024, Kaua‘i voters approved a Charter amendment allowing junior and senior high school students to become members of County Boards and Commissions, creating new opportunities for youth involvement in local government.
The Office of Boards and Commissions provides support to 17 boards and commissions that oversee various County functions, including:
Arborist Advisory Committee
Board of Ethics
Board of Review
Board of Water Supply
Building Board of Appeals

Committee on the Status of Women
