High School Student Orientation - Monday, August 4

Meet in the Wilcox Gym at 8:45 a.m.

Aloha Grades 9–12 Families,
 
We are excited to welcome all of our High School students, both new and returning, to the first official event of the school year, High School Student Orientation on Monday, August 4. Orientation is required for all new and returning students in Grades 9-12. The goal of orientation is for  students to meet and interact with their teachers and advisors, be aware of community expectations, and feel comfortable for a successful first day of classes and a strong start to the school year. Students will meet their advisor, and will discuss the new schedule as well as overall campus and behavioral expectations. They will also receive their schedule and school picture ID’s. 
 
Orientation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 11:00 a.m. Students should plan to arrive on campus by 8:45 a.m. Upon arrival, they should check in at their grade-level table, meet their Deans, and pick up their school ID. All students should be seated in the Wilcox Gym by 9:00 a.m 

Orientation Agenda – Monday, August 4

8:45 - 9:00 a.m. - Arrival and Check-In (Wilcox Gym Lanai)
9:00 - 9:15 a.m. - Welcome, Introductions & Announcements
9:15 - 10:30 a.m. Advisory Session: (students dismissed to advisory classrooms)

Led by advisors, this time will include:
  • Community building and icebreakers
  • Distribution and review of new daily schedule
  • Orientation to the new Kūlia structure: 
    • Purpose (study time, support, ententions, tutoring)
    • Weekly schedule (Tues–Thurs) High School: 12:35 - 1:25 p.m.
    • How students request support
  • Campus protocols and community expectations
    • Updated cell phone policy
    • Conduct matrix and behavioral expectations
  • Retreat Overview Friday, August 8 at Salt Pond Beach Park
  • Locker assignments and preparations for the first day (ABCDEF schedule) 
10:30 - 11:00 a.m. Open Campus: Opportunity to meet with teachers and ask questions
11:00 - Dismissal
