Eighth Grade had a wonderful and educational experience on the Big Island last week! The class of 45 students spent four days exploring cultural sites, hiking the Kilauea Iki Crater, practicing their Hōʻike dance, and bonding as a class before their final weeks as eighth graders. Students toured UH Hilo and visited the Lyman Museum, and got the opportunity to talk story with Kainani Kahaunaele, a renowned Hawaiian musician and the composer of E Mau E, the song they will be dancing to at Hōʻike next week.
