Ed-Venture days in Middle School

Last week, Middle School spend the day off campus on their grade level Ed-Venture excursions. Ed-Ventures are an interdisciplinary, immersive study days that aim to incorporate grade level curriculum content into full-day off-campus excursions. Teachers have designed experiences that connect content areas to relevant places on Kauaʻi to deepen students’ understanding of their academic learning through place.

8th grade students participated in a “Religion Tour”  to a variety of religious and sacred sites from Wailua to Līhuʻe which includes Heiau, Hindu Monastery, Lihue Hongwanji and St. Michael's Church. This excursion is intended to enrich the current learning in their World History class which is currently studying World Religions.

7th grade students explored the ocean and harbor area of Nawiliwili, conducting a plankton study by collecting samples from various locations in the harbor to analyze and understand differences in water quality and marine life. Additionally they will be studying sea mammals to understand the connection between plankton and water quality, contribute to their existence and gaining a deeper appreciation for the diverse and amazing life held within our harbors and our oceans.

6th grade spent the day in Waimea for a walking tour, shoreline exploration and watching a show at the Waimea Theatre.
