Painted Bird Boxes in Hawaiian Studies

Children at Island School recently learned about native endangered seabirds (the 'A'o, 'Ua'u and ʻAkēʻakē) and painted nest boxes.
The nest boxes will one day be used by local environmental organization Archipelago Research & Conservation to provide new homes in a protected area for these precious birds.
The lesson was taught by Kat Ho in Hawaiian Studies while Kumu Kauka was on Lehua Islet.
