Each quarter, Island School students across divisions focus on different Hawaiian Values. This quarter, elementary school is studying Hōʻihi: the value of respect in many different forms. This week in fifth grade, students discussed ways they can show Hōʻihi at school, home, and in their communities. Then, they took time to write their own definition of Hō’ihi and draw a picture of an example.
Students will continue to be reminded of this character value throughout the month. At the end of quarter one, 2 students in each grade level will be nominated to earn the Hō’ihi Award.
