At the end of my message on January 9, 2026 after we had just returned to school from break and I had reflected on major moments for the school in 2025, I closed the note with:
With the start of January, we also can turn towards all that we can look forward to in 2026, knowing it will hold its own history-making moments.
And here we are, just three weeks into the new year, and I am thrilled to ask you to join me in celebrating our girls’ varsity soccer team who have made Island School history by being the first Voyagers girls’ soccer team to qualify to head to States! Wow! They head out to Oʻahu on Tuesday for their first game on Wednesday. Please plan to join us again by sporting our Blue and Gold uniform shirts on Wed, 1/28, to show our support for them even if we can’t be there in person to cheer them on.
This year the top two KIF teams get to head to states, and Island School secured its spot a few weeks ago. However, on Tuesday this week they fought hard to try and secure the KIF championship and head to States as the league champion. We have so much gratitude for all the spirit that was shown that day in our Blue and Gold across campus, and we were wow’d by the amazing crowd of all ages that attended the game! While the 1-0 loss to Kauaʻi HS was heartbreaking, we hope our girls know how much we believe in them and will be rooting for them all the way as they get ready to play in Honolulu.
And speaking of making history, we hope you will JOIN US this coming TUESDAY at 5pm for our Annual Town Hall meeting in Main Hall. I am so glad we are a school where the Board creates the opportunity to bring together our community, share about the State of the School with me, and create the opportunity for parents-guardians to give input in-person to how we will shape our future through our Strategic Process. We’ll have some delicious food to fuel us, and childcare is available for Grades K-5. Please see note below in announcements for further details. We truly hope you will attend.
As always, mahalo for being a part of the Island School ʻohana and for all the ways you mālama our community.
Together,
Nancy Nagramada P’29
