What does it mean to make an impact, particularly one that is far-reaching and long-lasting? This is my “why” regarding becoming an educator. This is my family’s why for joining the Island School ʻOhana. This is our why for our commitment to serving Kauaʻi youth.
As we are in an important moment in the school-year cycle of choosing to re-enroll your child/children, choosing to apply to attend for prospective families, choosing to recommit to another year as a teacher or staff member, it is important that we all know our why for being a part of the Island School ʻOhana. Part of my why is because as I learned more and more about Island School, I saw that there is an incredible sense of community and dedication here as well as a representation of children from so many different life experiences – more than in any other school I have worked before – that I wanted to be a part of, that I wanted my own son to be a part of.
Together, this community is able to make a far-reaching impact on the life trajectories of our students because we show our commitment to our school community in ways that empowers and inspires students to see more in themselves and what they can offer the world.
We continue to be ready and excited to be on this Voyage with our students and families. The Gala and other giving opportunities allow us to create a far-reaching impact for children who might not otherwise be able to experience an Island School education. We thank you for being a part of making this year’s Gala particularly meaningful as we celebrate together under the stars of our campus home. We are grateful to those volunteering their time to make it possible, to those who have given or secured auction items, and to those who are able to join us on March 7.
As always, we are so grateful to you for entrusting Island School with the education of your children.
