Community Service Projects by Grade Level

Sixth graders will work to weed, clean, and care for the upper playground garden and ti leaves. Responsibilities include removing weeds, cleaning garden beds, and helping prepare the area for the younger students. Through this project, sixth graders develop responsibility, teamwork, and an appreciation for caring for shared learning spaces while beginning their transition into leadership within the middle school community.

Seventh graders focus on maintaining clean, organized, and respectful learning environments. Projects include classroom deep-cleaning, organizing shared materials, wiping surfaces, and reinforcing habits of care for communal spaces. Emphasis is placed on accountability and respect for shared resources.

Eighth graders will clean, weed, and restore the Frear fenceline area. The project also includes planting ti and maintaining existing greenery. Students will also paint the Matson container near the MS lounge outside of the Noni and Ulu classrooms. Students will learn land stewardship, teamwork, and the importance of contributing to the visual and ecological health of the campus.

Ninth graders will lead campus recycling efforts by collecting, sorting, and managing recyclable materials. Students will ensure proper disposal practices. Through this project, students develop environmental responsibility, organizational skills, and an understanding of how individual actions contribute to the sustainability of the larger community.

Tenth graders will cut ti from the elementary courtyard and plant ti near the junior lounge and assist with cleaning and preparing the imu palace and māla areas in advance of their Learning Voyage week. This work supports cultural learning,  readiness, and collective responsibility for school spaces.

Eleventh graders take on the responsibility of painting and refreshing campus facilities. This project emphasizes pride in shared spaces, attention to detail, and contributing meaningful, visible improvements that benefit the entire school community. They will focus on the areas near the High School Lounges.

Twelfth graders will focus on completing and restoring key legacy projects that reflect their role as graduating leaders. This work includes clearing, repairing, and refreshing existing class gift signs, weeding and beautifying the native gardens, and repainting the Voyager sign. Through these efforts, seniors contribute lasting improvements to the campus while demonstrating pride, stewardship, and gratitude for the school community they are preparing to leave behind.
