As we enter December, I hope you are finding sources of peace through what can too often become the hustle and bustle of the season. I wish for adults to make space to model what this looks like for our youth, so they can see us both work hard for what we are committed to and also find joy and peace in our lives and feel fulfilled in the world we have built around us.
Today our Middle Schoolers were out across the island spreading peace and joy as they showed our commitment to mālama ʻāina with important community advocates who model for us the power of partnerships with people and place. We can be so proud of them and all their hard work.
I hope to see you on Monday for the choral and ukulele concert at the KCC performing arts center. The theme of Peace through Music this year will be a meaningful pause that will warm the hearts of anyone choosing to join us. Whether you have a performer in the concert or not, please consider joining us with your family in music and fellowship.
And over the last few weeks, our community has wished for loved ones to rest in peace. Please know our hearts are full from the meaningful memories of those incredible educators, parents, siblings, community leaders, friends and more who have passed from this life into what follows next.
Mahalo for being a part of the Island School ʻohana and for all the ways you uplift our community. Have a wonderful weekend ahead.
