Head of School for the Day

Aloha!

I am Ian Tanigawa, and I am in the 5th Grade, but this past Wednesday, I was Head of School for a day and known as Mr. Tanigawa. As part of my job, I got to write to you about something important to me. I decided to write to you about sports and kindness.

Have you ever watched a sports game? A lot of big events have happened or are about to happen in the world – the Superbowl this past weekend, the Winter Olympics happening right now, and even the World Cup coming this summer.

To start off, let's talk about the Superbowl and how it was an exciting event in our world. The game took place in the San Francisco Bay Area with two teams, the Seahawks and the Patriots. This is super important because there are 30 teams in football and only two can make it to the Superbowl. Another important event is the World Cup because it only happens every four years and it is world wide. I am a soccer player and have been playing soccer since I was three years old. When I play soccer, I know kindness is the key to playing. In 4th Grade we had the Kindness Squad, and I learned how important kindness is. In soccer, if I show kindness and respect to the other team that I’m going against, I will be a good soccer player and our team will be better. I also have to be good and aggressive to become a successful soccer player. This weekend, I am going to my first tournament on Oʻahu with a team that I haven’t played with before. I want to play soccer because if I get good at it, I will get to travel to other places, meet new people and by being kind and playing soccer, I’ll get to have fun and make new friends.

Always be kind,

P.S.
