As part of Learning Voyages, 11th and 12th graders will engage in the theme: “Building Independence and Responsibility, Shaping Tomorrow.” This theme includes graduation preparation, career exploration, and college readiness, and we feel a trip focused on higher education opportunities is right in line with helping students think about their future.  We are moving forward with the Southern California College Trip February 15th - 19, 2026 as part of Learning Voyages. And we are gathering interest in an inter-island college tour.
For the Southern California College Tour - February 15-19, 2026
Island School is partnering with a professional tour company to give students the chance to visit a range of colleges and universities across Southern California.

For the Inter-Island College Tour - February 17-19, 2026
If your student will not be participating in the Southern California College Tour, please consider having your child participate in the Inter-Island College trip.
Inter-Island College Tour Description:
Students will travel to Oʻahu (UH Mānoa, Chaminade, HPU) and the Big Island (UH Hilo) to explore in-state higher education options. Visits will include guided tours, information sessions, and opportunities to connect with current students and faculty. By engaging directly with Hawai'i colleges and universities as well as our IS alumni at these schools, our students will gain valuable insights into academic offerings, campus culture, and career pathways while also being able to remain close to home to pursue their college goals.  Our goal is to keep the cost of this trip as reasonable as possible by staying at partner schools, etc.
Our oldest students will enjoy greater flexibility in designing their Learning Voyage. If your child does not participate in either of these school-organized opportunities, they will be responsible for confirming their Learning Voyage experience. 11th Grade students not on one of the school-organized college tours, will have a program provided by faculty on and off campus during regular school hours or they may be approved to do independent college visits with their families during Learning Voyage Week. 12th Grade students not on one of the school-organized college tours, are encouraged to visit colleges with their families during Learning Voyage week. Other options for seniors include independent community service – fulfilling graduation requirements through meaningful service work or job shadowing or Internship – gaining hands-on experience in a career field of interest. Seniors creating their own Learning Voyage experience will submit their plan for approval to the 12th Grade Dean, Mr. Reynolds.
