Middle and High School Science Olympiad Invitational on Oahu
Island School proudly participated in the ʻIolani Invitationals this past weekend, competing alongside leading Oʻahu schools including ʻIolani School, Highlands Intermediate, Punahou, and University Lab. Despite many of these schools fielding multiple teams, our students represented Island School with outstanding effort and impressive results.
We are pleased to share that:
Sofi Lewis and Emma Hadley (9th grade) earned 3rd place in Heredity.
Amelia Taylor (8th grade) and Elijah Braun (7th grade) secured 4th place in Meteorology.
Cade Ormond (8th grade) and Laola Seraphin (7th grade) achieved 4th place in Dynamic Planet.
Coaches Laura Lee and Jenny Lewis are extremely proud of this team’s dedication! Over the past two weeks, students committed themselves to preparing, even spending their Saturday creating binders, reference sheets, and building their devices—an excellent reflection of their academic discipline and enthusiasm for learning.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Ing ‘Ohana for providing a delicious breakfast and snacks, to the Kakutani ‘Ohana for supporting the team by bringing the tests back and to the Braun ‘Ohana for treating the team to a late-night dinner upon arrival. Your support plays an invaluable role in our students’ success and enhances the spirit of our school community.
As we look ahead, the team will continue preparing for the Regional Competition at KCC in February 2026, followed by the Hawai‘i State Competition at UH Mānoa in March 2026. We are excited to cheer them on as they continue to learn, grow, and represent Island School with pride.
