This week, Nā Pua Keiki visited the Kīlauea Lighthouse and took a whale-watching boat ride with Ocean Adventure! These place-baased learning experiences provide meaningful, real-world opportunities for our keiki to deepen their understanding of seabird and marine mammal life.
By observing native seabirds in their natural habitat at the lighthouse, students developed an appreciation for conservation, bird migration patterns, and the importance of protecting these species. Complementing this, hands-on ocean experiences allowed them to engage more directly with marine ecosystems, building awareness of how mammals like dolphins and whales interact with their environment.
Together, these experiences fostered curiosity, stewardship, and a stronger connection between our students and the natural world that surrounds them.
