Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre Announces Three Youth Programs for Fall

LIHU‘E, KAUA‘I — Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre (HCT) has announced three upcoming youth programs this fall, offering children and teens across the island an opportunity to develop performance skills, build confidence, and engage in creative expression.

The classes, which begin in September and run through November, are designed for various age groups and interests—from creative play for younger keiki to comic book-inspired stage combat and a full musical theatre experience during fall break.

“We’re excited to offer something for everyone this season,” said Allegra Gaines, Executive Director of HCT. “These classes nurture imagination, develop skills, and give young people a chance to shine—whether they’re brand new to theatre or already love the spotlight.”

The three programs are as follows:

Little Stars, Big Imagination – HCT Creative Play
Ages 4–7
Fridays, September 6 – November 1
Instructor: Jacyn Fain

This one-hour weekly class invites young performers to explore music, movement, storytelling, and make-believe in a fun and supportive setting. The 10-week session concludes with a cheerful showcase where students share what they’ve learned with family and friends.

SuperStage: Heroes, Villains & Stage Combat
Ages 8–12
Saturdays, September 6 – November 1, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Instructors: Tom Frascatore and Colten Moore

This high-energy class combines comic book storytelling with dramatic acting and stage combat training. Students will learn safe, theatrical fighting techniques while building original superhero and villain characters. The class ends with a “Super Cabaret” showcase for family and friends.

Fall Break Theater Bootcamp: The Lion King KIDS
Ages 8–15
October 6 – 10, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Performance: Friday, October 11 at 6:00 p.m.

Held during fall break, this weeklong theatre intensive gives students the opportunity to rehearse and perform a full musical production of The Lion King KIDS. Campers will learn acting, singing, and dancing while building collaboration skills and stage confidence.

All classes will take place at HCT’s Puhi Theatrical Warehouse. No prior experience is required, and scholarships are available for families in need.
