KEMA visit in First Grade

This week, our first grade class took a field trip to KEMA, Kauaʻi Emergency Management Agency. Their guide on this tour, Aunty Sky, is an Island School alumni from the class of 2007! Students got to see pictures of previous natural disasters hat KEMA helped organize the cleanup including landslides, floods and fires. Students learned what to pack for a 14-day emergency supply, monitored the earthquake that happened in the Philippines on Tuesday morning, and learned that a police truck fits inside of the Blackhawk Helicopter!
