This week, Island School welcomed a certified therapy dog from Reading Education Assistance Dogs® (R.E.A.D.) as part of a new reading support program for elementary school students.
Research shows that reading to dogs can help children feel more comfortable, reduce anxiety, and build confidence in their reading abilities. The presence of a calm, friendly dog encourages students to practice reading aloud in a relaxed and supportive setting.
This program will provide a joyful and beneficial experience for our students, especially as they continue to grow in their love of reading!
