Island School Representation at the International Science and Engineering Fair
Ashley '25 attended the 75th International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held last week in Columbus, Ohio. ISEF is considered one of the most prestigious science competitions for high school students, offering a platform to be recognized for innovative research at an international level. She was one of 23 students representing Hawaiʻi and proudly represented both Kauaʻi and Island School.
The event brought together over 1,700 participants from 66 countries around the world. Ashley had the chance to connect and network with fellow students from Hawaiʻi, other U.S. states, and various countries. She also took part in the popular pin exchange, mixers organized specifically for participants, and student-led panels.
As part of the Hawaiʻi delegation, Ashley presented her project to fellow students and chaperones, receiving valuable feedback and insightful suggestions that she can carry forward prior to her all day judging.
It was truly inspiring to witness such a diverse array of scientific ideas come together in one place—a global platform where students could connect, exchange knowledge, and present the results of their hard work and research. For Ashley, an Island School Voyager from Kauaʻi, participating and sharing her independent project at ISEF was an unforgettable experience. She now joins the ranks of many notable scientists, inventors, and entrepreneurs who have been part of this prestigious event.
