Third graders have started composting organic waste from lunch. Social Studies teacher, Pat Gegen, has been teaching them the how it all works. They watched a video showing how decomposition occurs and then dumped food scraps into our new composter. They were excited to see how the material heated up and broke down so quickly. Mr. Gegen's 8th & 9th graders are helping out. In class, the 3rd graders are raising worms that will complete the process. The soil will be used in the vegetable boxes they made for their birthday ho‘okupu.
