American Government Students Witness State Supreme Court Case

The American Government classes went to KCC Performing Arts Center today to witness a State Supreme Court Case: Ccca Cola Bottling Company vs. Ms. Josue & DLIR (Dept. of Industrial Relations). This opportunity was made possible by the Court to Community program, which involved many attorneys on our island. Three local attorneys have been directly involved with our students. Mahalo to attorneys Jennifer Winn, Allison Mizuo Lee, and Nancy Budd for visiting the American Government classes. They have been leading our students through a Moot Court simulation of the case, where students act as the judges and attorneys, arguing the case and coming up with a decision.

After hearing the argument at KCC PAC, students split into small groups and met with one of Hawai‘i’s State Supreme Court Judges for a question and answer session.
