Two high school ceramics classes have been busy creating large clay busts. These ceramic sculptures have taken a lot of time and patience, requiring students to use their creative imaginations as well as their engineering skills. They are hollow and were built from the bottom up, using clay slabs and coils. Once they were dry, they were fired in our kiln. Students are now in the process of applying surface decoration to their busts … some with ceramic glazes and others with acrylic paints. Here are photos of some of their works-in-progress.
