Elementary School News

Learning Voyages: Our Elementary students had a fun week of learning voyages! Jewelry making, cooking, science, garage band, art, Makahiki games, arts & crafts, and lei making!

Third Grade Adventures:
Ms. Becky's third graders have had quite an exciting couple of weeks!
Third Grade's Kipu Ranch Adventures excursion, was a part of their Kealahele Ma Kauai, creating a deeper connection to our sense of community, place, Hawaiian culture and Kaua'i home. They learned about native plants, rich historical places, explored a hydroponics garden and so much more. They're very grateful for their experience at Kipu Ranch and for the Teves 'ohana and their incredible staff.
Sustainable Coastlines volunteers took third grade's learning deeper regarding plastic pollution and marine debris by providing an informative and interactive presentation including solutions.
Mahalo to Sustainable Coastlines volunteers, Tanya Torres and Laura Bailes, for providing third grade with a solution to the plastic pollution facing our island home with their generous donation of mele wraps and bamboo sporks. We love them and are thankful to be part of the solution.
Mahalo nui loa to Erin Cobb-Adams of Kamehameha Schools for leading and sharing his deep knowledge of Makahiki Games with the elementary students for third grade's Learning Voyage. Mahalo to Kumu Kauka for leading Makahiki Games and to Emiko Meyers for volunteering as well. Ms. Becky is truly grateful for this opportunity to bring Hawaiian culture to the elementary school's Learning Voyage.

Jogathon: Jogathon fundraising has begun! Elementary students will bring home their Jogathon fundraising kit this week. Please help your student ask friends and family to sponsor them for a 20 minute run at our Jogathon, Friday, March 13 at Poipu Beach Park. Proceeds help fund our PE program and purchase playground equipment. Funds raised last year were used to help outfit our new basketball court! This year, proceeds will go toward new PE and playground equipment.  In addition to completing a 20-minute fun run, students will take part in water relays, enjoy play on a giant waterslide and generally have a great day at the beach! Yay!
