There is no better way to engage children in appreciating and respecting nature than to dig in the dirt, plant, care for, and grow edible plants. This week we had a carrot harvest. During the process the children share their knowledge about the planting/growing and coordinate the tasks of digging, pulling, cleaning, eating, and sharing the fruits or should we say “carrots” of their labor with their family.

We created our own sundial and marked the movement of the shadow. Much to our surprise we discovered a sundial helps us tell time.
