We claim everyday is Earth Day. On this Earth Week we celebrated our interconnected relationship with the earth by a trash clean up by our stream, planting huli to share with our `Ohana, and exploring puddles and clay from our earth. The teachers at Na Pua Keiki know when children engage with nature and the outdoors they develop an understanding of their natural human communities which leads to a sense of place. Connecting to our place develops strong environmental attitudes and and civic behaviors in our children. This is the very foundation of the next generation of active citizens who take care of their natural environment and human communities. We are the kids of the earth!
