The last few weeks in Hawaiian Studies have been busy for our elementary students! Students have studied water - wai, ti leaves and their different uses, how to dye kapa with ʻukiʻuki berries, Queen Liliʻuokalaniʻs birthday on September 2nd, the Hawaiian flag, and have memorized the Hawaii State Anthem, Hawaiʻi Ponoʻi. Students watched a video about Iolani Palace and listened to songs written by Queen Liliʻuokalani, "Aloha ʻOe" and "Kaulana Na Pua." Mahalo to our Hawaiian Studies Kumu, Sabra Kauka, for teaching our keiki!
