Active Learning

Our active learning activities engage students in deep rather than surface learning, and enable students to apply and transfer knowledge better. This approach to learning promotes higher order thinking skills such as application of knowledge, analysis, and synthesis. Two small group activities this week were Alphabet Soup and Roll the Dice. In Alphabet Soup, our students explored letters they knew from their name, noticing ones they had in common with each other, and how their name would sound if letters were rearranged. This also promotes a strong sense of who they are and their connections to others!
