Winter Sports Recap

Winter sports are nearing the end.  If you haven’t already made it out to any one of the sporting events this season, now is the time to do so.  We have a lot to be excited about as our Voyagers have made a lot of noise in the KIF this winter.

  • Boys soccer sits atop the league with just a few more games to go and looking to go back to back as KIF Champions.  Catch them this Saturday 1/21 at home versus the Kauai High Red Raiders along with our girls soccer team.  Game times are 2pm and 4pm.  Come wish the girls and our seniors well as they play in their final soccer game for IS.  Congratulations to our girls for a great season - our best ever.
  • Last season ISV paddling became a force to be reckoned with.  This year is no different.  Our varsity girls are the points leader going into the KIF Championship this Saturday 1/21.  Come cheer them on as they attempt to win our first ever girls title.  Meet starts at 9am at the Wailua River.  Come early and get your spot.  Congratulations to all the paddlers.  Our JV girls have been dominant all season and are the points leader as well.  Our varsity boys currently sit in second going into the KIF Championship.  The defending champions will look to make some noise in the final face of the season - who knows, anything can happen.  Repeat?
  • Undermanned and undersized but never deterred, our boy’s basketball team shows up every game ready to battle and battle they do.  Their season wraps up next week Saturday at home on 1/28.  Come say farewell to our seniors.  If you have not attended a farewell ceremony at Wilcox Gym - you are missing out.  IS over the past few years has put on the best farewell ceremonies in the KIF.  This will be no different.  In last year’s farewell ceremony the Kapaa Warriors stayed and watched as Josh Dobashi put an exclamation point on the night by slam dunking the ball in front of the crowd bringing the house down.  Will we see that this year?  Who knows.  Come and see for yourself.
  • This Saturday will mark the final qualifying swim meet of the season for our swimmers.  So far it appears our girls are in a good position to repeat as KIF Champions.  But first they have to get through this week.  Next week Saturday 1/28, they will have the opportunity to do that.  Come out and cheer on our team as they attempt to go back to back KIF Champions.
