Middle School Voices!

English 8 students are participating in an Investigative Journalism unit with Ms. Haugh. To kick off the unit, Ms. Genevieve from Island School’s Development and Marketing, shared the purpose, contents, and vision of The Compass. Now, students are writing pieces for The Compass as the highlight of the Investigative Journalism unit. In class, students are journalists by finding drama, writing in a journalistic style by practicing close observation (capturing the 5Ws), meeting deadlines, and using narrative craft. So far, this unit has been fun, and the students are looking forward to sharing their writing in The Compass.
