The 'aina provides: You take care of the 'aina and the 'aina takes care of you.

Last week we started with learning about how Kalo grows and provides us with food and materials.  This week we utilized kalo for making Poi Mochi and leaf printing.  We went to Hanchett Ranch to clear invasive strawberry guava trees and made Kala’au sticks for May Day.  We had Kori King (who is an expert in using natural materials to dye cloth) teach us  how to make olena dye from the olena plant.  The material we dyed will be for our May Day costumes.  Also, we replanted the olena mother roots and are in the process of propagating the keiki pieces to give back to the plants.
