Our First 'Ohana Project!

Our first `Ohana Project this year was lead by Maka’alohi’s family. A special tradition in Nā Pua Keiki are the ʻOhana Projects. Throughout the year, families are invited onto campus to share with students their passion, their place of work, or something that is special to them. During ʻOhana Projects, our families become teachers for the day, and are encouraged to be creative with their projects, which results in enthusiasim within our students!

This week, Maka’alohi’s Mom, Aunty Tina, shared the Hawaiian legends about Sleeping Giant, the history of the area, and her childhood memories of hiking the mountain from her home to her Grandma’s house. The keiki enjoyed the hike up to the top and back down again. The following day the keiki reflected on the experience by drawing pictures and tell their stories.
