Island School Winter Sports Program Update: Let's Go!

We are past the halfway point - so what's been happening with ISV Winter Sports.

Boys Soccer:
In pursuit of their 3rd straight KIF Title and a shot at states, the Kapaa Warriors stand in the way of our Voyagers.  In a crucial showdown set for this Saturday, 1/20, at the BJB Complex in Kapaa set for 4pm, the Voyagers look to take down the Warriors after their previous game resulted in a Warrior victory.  Please come out and support the fellahs in what should be an intense matchup of skill and will.

Girls Soccer:
This season marks the final game for our Lady Voyagers.  Come out and show your support for our girls who have fought hard and shown resiliency all season.  Given the promise shown this year, we look forward to what next season will bring, maybe even a KIF title and trip to the State Championship.  The final match kicks off at 2pm in Kapaa at the BJB Complex.

Boys and Girls Paddling:
If you haven't been to a paddling meet yet, what are you doing?!  Come out and join in the excitement, fun, and camaraderie and take in the great atmosphere on the Wailua River.  The matches have been fun and exciting all year.  It is coming down to the end and the Lady Voyagers are right in the thick of things along with our mix crew.  Paddles up at 9am on the Wailua River this Saturday, 1/20.

Swimming:
Our girls are in a great position to 3-peat this season.  With one week left in the season before the KIF Championships, coaches have been strategizing and getting their teams ready for the big event.  The final preparation meet is scheduled for this Saturday, 1/20 at the YMCA with a start time of 8am.

Boys Basketball:
Did you know that our boys varsity recently beat first round winners Kapaa?  Yes they did.  In fact they've kicked down the doors and showed everyone in the KIF that ISV basketball is for real.  ALL their games this season have been battles to the point where teams have become so frustrated with our new style of play that they are having to adjust and prepare; as one coach put it after a game, "we have to prepare for Island School now, otherwise we are going to get our (you know what) kicked".  The boys were able to secure 2 victories in the first round against Kapaa and Waimea and will look to build on that momentum heading into the 2nd round when the take on the Waimea Menehune at home on Tuesday, 1/22 beginning with the JV boys at 5:30pm and Varsity to follow.
